I just received an email from Steve at A-TACS who informed me that the A-TACS pattern is officially available for Water Transfer Printing!
We’ve all been huge advocates of the A-TACS pattern here at ITS and are excited about all the ways its now being offered and getting hands on with it during our next Camo Comparison. I’ll definitely be sending some stuff in to get dipped in A-TACS and write up the results.

T.W.N. Industries, Inc. is the largest supplier of hydrographic camouflage films worldwide. Hydrographic decoration utilizes a specially designed water tank. Printed film is floated on the surface of the water and a chemical activator is sprayed to dissolve the film leaving the printed design suspended on the surface of the tank.
Specially prepared and coated parts are “dipped” into the tank and the design adheres to the finish of the product. A protective top coat is applied and the product is ready to be re-assembled for use. I wonder what kind of wizardry they have to do to make it blend so well. Very interesting stuff.
That is so cool but what’s even cooler is that Kriss Super V! I thought it was also called the TDI Vector but either way, it is totally awesome!

What goes into getting a gun ready to be dipped? I love the various patterns, but I have not ventured down this path before. Might even be worth an article, IMHO.
Looks really good on the site, but I’d hold off on it until I could see it in other environments. Like, how does it stand up to a more “green” background, like in dense forest or the jungle? Isn’t that something we’ve seen over and over again? Something that blends into one background (like the brown/earth tones that made up the photos on their site) will stick out like a sore thumb in white snow, etc.
Better than black. But I’m not sure of the bang for buck. Spray paints and reverse stencils seem to work for Scout Snipers pretty well.
So I guess I should strip off my recent paintjob to my AR10 and get her ready to ship to them. :D

They used my KRISS for this photo shoot and the finish holds up very well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a top quality after-market gun finish
