I’m late to the discussion, but the back pockets have an internal buttonless flap. When you put your wallet in, you lift the flap over it. It’s a similar concept to their cargo pocket design, but inside against the outer wall of the pocket. I’ve had mine only for a few weeks and wash on cold (hot dry though) – no shrinkage issues yet. Extremely comfortable pants!

I have a pair in tan and a pair in od. I like the way they fit, no problem there. I too wish the rear pockets had flaps. However, my gripe is the front pockets. They dump coins when seated. The design actually creates an exit ramp. Not good. They should take a look at the Patagonia Stand Up shorts and pants. Good pockets on these guys. Vertx, almost perfect. Get those pockets taken care of.

I would assume that has something to do with the fact that the knees are articulated.

I’ve been wearing a tan pair of these for a few months now. I use them for VIP protection stuff where their low profile appearance comes in handy (i.e. they’re not 5.11s). I hate stuff in my back pockets anyway so that’s not an issue for me. I can’t figure out tho why they look like they have double-ply knees, but its actually only one ply. Weird. I do like them tho. Very comfortable.

This was a timely article for me as I have ordered these pants a week ago and am waiting to get them soon. They attracted me because they are supposedly very comfortable, and I like their low-key appearance.

They’re not a true bootcut, but are a bit wider than your average straight leg pant.

Great review, Jean-Paul! Olive Garden does it to me *every* time :).

It’s interesting to hear that you have issues with the open pockets. I would imagine that stuff could fly in and out of them when you’re doing a lot of maneuvering.

I will say that I’ve enjoyed sporting Vertx’s ladies version. The waist isn’t too high, but I did have to get the bottoms hemmed.

How are the cuffs, when MM reviewed these he said they were wider than usual to accomodate boots. Given my skinny ankles I’m afraid I’ll look like John Travolta on the dancing floor with these or something.
