Ground Pads, Carrying Ammo and Long Term Prepping – Gear Tasting 91

Ground Pads, Carrying Ammo and Long Term Prepping – Gear Tasting 91

One of the most valuable things you can bring on any camping trip is a decent ground pad. Today on Gear Tasting, Bryan discusses his journey through the world of ground pads and why he keeps gravitating to the same one.

For Questions Over Coffee, Bryan is joined by a special guest, a Mud Dauber and together they answer questions on carrying precision rifle ammunition and long term supply preparations.

In each episode of Gear Tasting, Imminent Threat Solutions Editor-in-Chief Bryan Black answers your gear-related questions and shares his insight into what we’re currently evaluating at ITS HQ.

Inflatable ground pad + crampons = disaster!! For winter, i feel the good old closed cell foam is tough to beat. You can sit on it, stand on it, cook on it, indestructible…. I too have a shelf of pads i don’t use, i just keep going back to the same pad i used in 1985, closed cell foam. Happy trails. -joe

I always try to steer people towards the foam pads. My unit issued inflatable therm-a-rest’s and mine lasted exactly 3 days in Afghanistan.
