To add to your tip on batteries: Lithium batteries have three other advantages over Alkaline pile batteries.

    1) They generally put out the full voltage they’re rated for right up until they die. So a flashlight for example doesn’t get dimmer and dimmer as the batteries get to 50% or less. Yeah, that means the light gets dim and dies suddenly in some cases but it also means you don’t have a bunch of half-charged batteries you’re figuring out what to do with or getting rid of.

    2) They resist cold. Alkaline batteries don’t do well in cold and will “lose charge” when cold. Lithium batteries don’t use a water based electrolyte and therefore do much better in cold environments.

    3) Lithium batteries are usually significantly lighter than their alkaline analogues.
