Post image for Be the Grey Man with Operator Grade Discreet Clothing from EOTAC

After right at a year of putting EOTAC clothing through the ringer at various training courses, the range and every day use; I’d like to share my opinions on their Operator Grade Discreet Clothing and how everything has held up.

What I’ll be reviewing today are two of their shirts and two pairs of pants. The Mechanic Short-Sleeve Shirt, Tropical Short-Sleeve Shirt, Discreet Pants and Discreet Denim Pants.

Let me start off by saying the durability of this clothing has truly impressed me. As with abusing any article of clothing, there’s bound to be wear. The great thing about these items from EOTAC is how we’ll they’re still performing on a daily basis. [Read More…]

Post image for Beat the Heat with the 215 Gear Blended Operators Hat

I’ve been wearing around a 215 Gear Blended Operators Hat at the range now for the better part of 8 months, with nothing but great things to report.

The durability and construction of this hat is outstanding and as someone who’s pretty picky about hats, this is one I’ve truly become fond of.

What makes the Blended Operators Hat perfect for shooting in the Texas heat are the built in mesh panels to increase airflow, lightweight cotton fabric and a black under-brim surface to help prevent glare.

It’s also an unstructured 6-panel hat, which means the front two panels don’t have any support material added to them. These hats are sometimes called “floppy” hats. They’re definitely not as “floppy” as boonie hat, but are lightweight and weigh in at just 2.7 ounces. [Read More…]

Post image for Cement your Cool Guy Status with the MSM CoolGuy-Hat DLUX

We’re really excited about Mil-Spec Monkey’s new CoolGuy-Hat DLUX, as we’ve had the pleasure of giving him some feedback when he was first getting the project off the ground. His brilliant idea of integrating ear-pro into a hat was truly one of those moments when you say, “wow! I wonder why no one thought of that before?”

Well the Monkey did, and the result is loop Velcro madness on a FlexFit hat that will never leave you wondering where to put your patches or where your ear-pro took off to. We’ll hit the feature highlights in the article, but check out the video below for a hands-on review. [Read More…]

Post image for Vertx Tactical Pants Field Tested Overseas

As an owner of the Vertx Men’s Pants in Tan for over 8 months I have used these not only at home, but in Iraq and Afghanistan AO’s.

I bought the Tan version for a security job I was doing in Iraq where I was vehicle mounted for a few months and then moved into working as a Static Site Supervisor with Ugandans.

From there I moved into providing security for an Intel Facility that was more low-key and less HSLD. I mention this to illustrate the multiple environments these pants have been used in. [Read More…]

Post image for How Do You Shop for Tactical Pants?

One of favorite bloggers, Jeanette from the Tactical Pants Blog has put together one of the most comprehensive guides for purchasing Tactical Pants, aptly named The Tactical Pants Review.

Regardless of where you buy your tactical pants, give this guide a look, it’s the best we’ve seen so far.

Most of the major manufacturers are represented in the review and there’s also a fantastic chart displaying the vitals from each manufacturer’s core offering.

Post image for Last Chance for M855 Design Shirts!

We’ve recently received an update from our friend Wes Helm of M855 Design, that he’ll be shutting down operations for the next two years while he spends some time overseas.

The good news is that before he leaves, his remaining inventory of shirts are available for only $14! After May 31st they’ll no longer be available, so act quickly.

Wes would like to extend his thanks for all the support the community has given him, and We’d like to wish him all the best and thank him for all his hard work on our original ITS T-Shirt.

Safe travels brother!

Just a quick heads up that Diamondback Tactical is running a clearance sale on their remaining stock of MARS clothing in Alpha Green.

They’re offering some killer deals if you wear the sizes they have left.

Post image for DRIFIRE Odor Test Results

Five days straight of wearing any shirt is a recipe for being avoided like the plague and getting *that* look from your significant other. Surprisingly enough, I either have an awesome wife and/or DRIFIRE has produced a product that totally lives up to its expectations.

In this case, the answer to both is yes. DRIFIRE has 100% lived up to its claim that their Lightweight Short Sleeve T-Shirt will block odor, and I have an awesome wife.

As someone who has worn numerous athletic shirts and works out all the time, I can’t stand having to workout in a shirt more than once. I do it on occasion, but the stink afterwards reminds me of why I shouldn’t.

I wouldn’t call myself an overly stinky person, which is a relative statement, but I’m sure many of you can attest to that funk after a workout no matter if you’ve used deodorant that day or not. [Read More…]

Post image for Odor Testing DRIFIRE’s Newest Gen 4 Fabric

During the SHOT Show this year, we were able to get some face time with the crew at DRIFIRE to learn about their newest products and Gen 4 Fabric.

We found it interesting that while many have tested the FR (Flame Resistant) properties of their material, they mentioned no one had put the odor resistant properties to the test.

On their Web site they mention that with the FreshGuard technology, you can wear their shirts for days “we dare you!” We decided to accept that dare (and forgo the physical challenge, for all you DoubleDare fans).

Until one of us at ITS deploys again, we won’t be able to give this Lightweight T-Shirt the *ultimate* odor control test, but I’ve personally decided to put it through the ringer as best as I can here stateside. [Read More…]

brick-wallStrike-Hold! has just published an excellent visual comparison of camouflage patterns on their blog.

The three patterns compared are Bulldog Tactical Equipment’s Mirage, Crye Precision’s MultiCam and the Army Universal Camouflage Pattern (ACU).

Instead of voicing our opinions, take a look at the article on Strike-Hold! and let us know what you think in the comments here.

We’d love to hear from you.
