CERT Training Initial Impressions

The education I’ve received has been enlightening to say the least, but there still a nagging in the back of my mind.

Escape and Evade in an Urban Environment

Close your eyes for a minute and join me on a little adventure… You’re walking down the sidewalk and pass two shady figures talking amongst themselves.

As you pass them, you see the side door of a van open up just in front of you and two more suspicious characters emerge.

Within seconds, you’re restrained and struggling against four people trying to overpower you and throw you into the van.

Now, based on our readers vs. the general population, your response right now is to say “I’d shoot them before they had the chance,” OK Dirty Harry, but now your in a foreign country where your concealed handgun license doesn’t protect you.

Shooting Accurately Under Stress

While shooting accurately under stress is not a new concept, it’s one that’s very important to consider working into your training.

There’s never a time in a real world situation where using a firearm is stress-free, no matter if you’re Law Enforcement, Military or just a concealed-carry citizen forced to act.

In every stressful situation, shot placement is key. On top dealing with mental and physical fatigue, you have to put down the threat as quickly and efficiently as possible while maintaining your situational awareness, scanning for that next possible threat. [Read More…]

Armatura

Tactical Assault Gear CEO Chris Osman’s Twitter account has been a buzz with updates on Armatura, a new training facility located in Connecticut.

Osman and an unnamed business partner recently founded Armatura, which offers many combat specific classes.

In his most recent Twitter update yesterday, Osman announced that Armatura has a pro dealearship with Aimpoint, and that all students attending any course will be able to buy Aimpoint sights at 30 percent off. [Read More…]

Wind Zero Training Facility

windzero We’ve just found out about a new training facility in the works called Wind Zero. The 1000 acre facility is located in California’s Imperial Valley, near to the Naval Special Warfare training facility in Niland, CA and Imperial County’s Salton Sea.

Rather than compete with existing training programs, Wind Zero seems to be an all-inclusive facility available for rent by various law enforcement, military and public agencies to allow them to run their respective training blocks in a state-of-the-art facility.

While 400 of the 1,000 acres will be dedicated to this training, the other 600 will be used for a country club motorsports race resort featuring 6.1 miles of road course. The motorsports facility will be the first of its kind in California and the longest road course in all of North America.
