Kansas recently passed a law permitting concealed carry without a permit. I've contemplated ccw for a while but was hesitant for a couple reasons. First I just don't want to be on a list. There was a big hubub a few years back in Missouri about ccw holders being placed on a list. Another incident involved a Leo in Maryland who ran plates coming from out of state through his county with the express purpose of targeting ccw holders.

With the allowance of not permit carry I now am committed to carrying.I own a Glock 22 .40 and love it. I mostly plan on keeping it in my edc but was curious if anyone keeps a full sized pistol on their body. I was thinking that in times when  I want to carry, the small of the back would be a good place for comfort. I would need to practice draw from such a position. Hip seems somewhat obtrusive and bulky.

Any input or thoughts would be appreciated.

I carried full size until I got a compact. I didn't have any issues with it as I carried with an over shirt.

I have carried a full size 1911 in a G-Code INCOG. I could conceal it appendix or 3-4 o'clock with a dark t shirt. Try to avoid small of the back carry, there is that fear of being knocked on your ass and injuring your spine with that position. Of course everything will depend on your body type and clothing choice.

I would also suggest keeping some literature about this law on your person as well as knowing it verbatim. If you ever read opencarry.org you hear about people in states with no need for a permit being hassled even when concealed.

I keep a Sig P226 on me with spare mags. The right holster makes all the difference.

Can you guys suggest a holster? I'm 6'4" and about 250 so I'm fairly long. ..... Absolutely going to read up on the specifics of the law. It doesn't take effect until July so I'm trying to get up to speed now.

I appreciate all the input. Thanks guys.

I have a few Glock 19 holsters on order based on recommendations at a class that I took:

When you do your holster eval, use a tip from Jeff Gonzalez:

http://www.tridentco...carry-mistakes/

"Do a few rounds of 3-5 repetitions of burpee box jumps with your drawstroke add at the end and if you are really crazy do it at the range with some live fire added to the mix"

We did this (I was sick and sat out) to test the security of the carry holster in about half of the cases guns and or holsters came off or out. Tried it at home when I got back and yeah my holster sucks. I am going to take Jeff's advice and go with some sort of complete loop: http://www.tridentco...-clip-holsters/

Not sure where you are at but when I get them I am in MN/WI we could meet up and you can check it out.

Jeff has great stuff.  .... As far as the burpees go.....buck furpies! Great tip. Have a 24" box in the garage that hasn't had much use lately. Was looking at a cross breed holster tonight. Definitely will check out those links. Thanks bro.

I use both of these holsters for daily carry of my G19 but they would work with a G22.

Im a fan of the appendix style holsters just because they can be used comfortably almost anywhere. One thing about the crossbreed, my brother used one for a while to carry his 1911 and it was VERY comfortable but the kydex part would have to be reheated/molded every once and a while to get the retention back to the factory level.

I carry about the worst conceal carry gun sometimes. Beretta 96 in .40.

Usually appendix. Got one of these. Love it. Dale Frickle is a great guy to deal with too.

I have the INCOG from G Code and HSP for a Glock 23/19, which can also fit the 26/27/17/22. I prefer appendix carry but can not conceal the 23 with just a t-shirt. I picked up a Glock 43 and have been rocking that at appendix with no problem.

Glock 20 here, before that was a 5" 1911.  I've even carried a 45 USP for a while...it's all about the holster as stated.
