I need some help. I'm getting a semi custom anorak made and I've decided to go with ATACS. The fact that it screams camo slightly less to the masses helps, where I live never see it, and honestly I plain like it.

My question is what to go with, AU vs FG. I live about two miles from Lake Erie, about 45 minutes from Buffalo, NY. I have an ITS cover in AU that I like, and seems to be decent year round. I have to wonder though if FG, with its more green base, might be a better choice. Unfortunately I've never seen FG in person and can't find any semi locally.

Anyone who has had any experience, please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Hmm, not sure what I think of updated tiger stripe lol. I'll have to look into it more.

I'm leaning towards FG, but there are some folk who tell me it's way too green, if you intend to use it more than just late spring and summer. Someone I respect their opinion, told me that I'd get more overall milage from AU even in my AO.

Here is an example of my summer AO. That being said, alot of this turns shades of brown fall through mid spring. Maybe taking a look at ATACS IX is a better idea.

I also just stumbled on Orion Design Group's Lupus which might be a good option if I can track down fabric.

Looked it up and fabric is less than $10/yd on their website. If it were me, I'd buy a yard of each and check for myself. Look at it in different light and whatnot.

And, as a fashion fabulous, keyboard commando, I would go with the AU. Personally, I think a brownish spot in a mostly green area is less conspicuous than a greenish spot in a mostly brown scene. Plus, your pack will match your hat.

Just ordered 5 yards of A-TACS IX.

After doing some reading over the weekend, it looks like IX has aspects of both AU and FG. It'll be unique as that not only do I not really see A-TACS around here, let alone IX.

I'm hoping that it will be a nice compromise and looks to be a nice color pallette for my area.

I'm not a camo connoisseur, but the ix makes me think of tiger stripe.

Yea, it definitely has a tiger stripe feel too it. I like it. I can't deny that multicam works, but i wanted something different.

Air Force Tiger Stripe was almost as bad as UCP... Neither of them really hide the wearer from anyone (except, apparently, on the worst couches in history).

I've seen a few parts of mountains outside of Bagram where ucp would work pretty well.
