Anyone familiar with the Ruger AR 556? I have a fixed front sight that I don't want to remove. But I wanted to add an optic (yet to be determined) and was curious if a 1 inch riser mount would be enough.

You don't need a riser just mount it as if the front sight isnt there. Technically speaking the front sight will reduce a small amount of light that reaches your scope and if its a low magnification scope you may see it but if youre talking any scope over say 4 power you wont even notice the front sight in the scope.

I barely notice the front sight in my acog for rifle qual with my m4.
As Seen on: M4Carbine.net, GlockTalk, and NCGO.

I second Psybain, I rarely noticed the front sight while using an optic.

I had an M4 with a TA31F ACOG, never saw the front sight. Same with my 20" AR rifle that had a 4.5-14x on it.
Last wish? I wish... You had... More time.
