Now that I'm graduating my ten year old AR to an optic and removing the A3 carry handle, I need a backup rear sight.

Aluminum over polymer I take is best. Magpul, Yankee Hill...? Tritium or no?

I've been comparing them online and must admit they're the dryest pice of gear I've ever shopped for, lol.

Recommendations solicited. Many thanks!

I've had the Magpul MBUS Pro sights for a long while and have been pretty happy with them.  I don't really mess with the tritium on irons, but that's just personal preference.

Magpul without a doubt, MBUS and MBUS Pro are both great options.

I've just picked up a relatively low cost aluminum 45 degree offset BUIS for my SKS. Something on the chance the main optic goes tits up.

Been using MBUS for years now. Dropped, banged, kicked, drowned once, you name it. No issues, and I haven't heard of any besides those who chose to mount a front one on a gas block.

Whether you consider Magpul cliche' or tacticool... you can't deny the stuff works!

MBUS here also.

I like the Daniel Defense A1.5 rear sights, they're always up, so they're always ready. I wouldn't mind trying out LAV's new sights he designed with scalarworks, either.

TL;DR: I prefer fixed buis models.

I went with the LMT fixed BUIS. It's essentially a fancy chopped carry handle. I use an MRO so having a fixed BUIS is not a space or visibility issue. When I did do a folding BUIS I wanted minimalistic. I have used a KAC 600M BUIS, which I like, and a KAC 40A2 and 40L, which were "meh." Older stuff, I know, but it worked.
