SHOT Show 2016: Media Day Live Coverage

SHOT Show is the largest trade show of its kind covering shooting sports, outdoor, hunting and law enforcement industries. Stay tuned for live coverage coming from the 2016 SHOT Show Media Day at the Range.

–1517– Century Arms’ side rail mount for the AK platform, retails by itself for $80.00.

 

–1303– Century Arms 100% American made AK short-barreled rifle, with side rail mount and folding stock. #SHOTShow ^MNS

 

–1257– Silencerco Weapons Research Radius rangefinder, 18.2 ounces and able to range reflective targets out to one mile, and non reflective targets out to a hundred yards. $1000.

 

–1241– In BioLite’s SolarPanel 5+, they’ve removed the outer casing to reduce weight, added a kickstand and a sundial to enable easier and more effective charging of the device. They’ve also added a battery to the back of it so it can either store the energy it collects, itself, or be daisy chained with BioLite’s other products. ^MNS

 

–1233– Powerlight and Sitelite bundled package, with two different types of combination light/USB-friendly battery pack. ^MNS

 

–1231– In the new BioLite cook stove, they’ve removed the USB charging option for people who just want the smoke-free fire that BioLite’s fan/stove combination provides. ^MNS

 

–1223– SilencerCo’s Maxim-9 now uses standard Glock magazines, in what is a pistol with an integrated silencer. #SHOTShow ^MNS

 

–1214– Peltor’s new Sport Securefit Safety Eyewear. They’re very light weight and flexible. I wore the clear version all day and have to say they are the best fitting glasses I’ve worn with ear pro. ^ES

 

–1211– Peltor “Sport RangeGuard” and “Sport Tactical 100” electronic hearing protection. What’s really trick about these is the outer battery cover. ^ES

 

–1201– Dead Air Silencer’s Ghost-M suppressor for .45 ACP. Retails for $949.00, made of 17-4 Stainless Steel and Titanium and user-modifiable to suppress .22LR, .300BLK (subsonic), .40 S&W, .45 ACP, 10mm and 9mm. ^MNS

 

–1140– Tactical Ear Plugs from Peltor. Two volume settings, 3 tip sizes, recharges in case or over USB. 23 db or 30 db. $250-$300, available on Amazon. ^MNS

 

–1131– Fix It Sticks, born of cycling technology, allow you to carry multiple options of torque wrench in a compact form factor. ^MNS

 

–1127–

 

–1123– Angel Armor Truth Snap series, which is a magnetic trauma plate system. This allows the user to quickly scale up or down between threat levels (7.62 & 5.56). Available in several cuts and sizes. ^ES

 

–1121– Angel Armor “Ally” is a portable and concealable shield designed to be used for discreet protection. NIJ level IIIA while remaining semi-rigid. ^ES

 

–1116– Mechanix will release their new line of Wolf Grey glove offerings starting tomorrow, Jan 19. Fast Fit, Original and MPACT options. ^MNS

 

–1114– Mechanix revised Woodland pattern. ^MNS

 

–1112– Mechanix’s new line in Wolf Grey and a revised traditional Woodland pattern, no longer with reduced pattern size, and now with Coyote Brown leather. ^MNS

 

–1100– Yeti’s new line of insulated kitchen grade vacuum sealed insulated steel bottles, able to preserve hot or cold fluids. Top of the bottle is wide enough to use with multiple fingers or fingers in gloves. Available in 18oz (39.99), 36 oz ($59.95), and 64 oz ($89.95) sizes. ^MNS

 

–1046– Century Arms TPS-SF ships with two magazines, a reloader and a holster, for $399. ^MNS

 

–1040– Bryan putting a few rounds down range with the Century Arms TP9-SF, $399 pistol that exceeds NATO’s accuracy requirement at 50,000 rounds, with its machined barrel. ^MNS

 

–1032– Cobalt Kinetics improved buffer tube assembly for the Evolve rifle. It uses a polymer sleeve and modular buffer to improve performance. ^MNS

 

–1030– Comparison between Evolve’s buffer tube assembly and a normal AR buffer tube assembly. ^MNS

 

–1022–This is the Cobalt Kinetics Evolve, geared towards competition shooting. It chambers the last round of a magazine, then drops the magazine and locks the bolt back. ^MNS

 

 

–1017– Aimpoint 6x Milspec magnifier, $907.

 

–1015– View down the Aimpoint 3-C 3x magnifier. Drops in April for $307. ^MNS

 

–1000– Surveying the SHOT Show media range day map upon arrival.

 

–0948– Fueling up at the Coffee Cup for breakfast and coffee before Media Day at the Range. ^BB

 

–0909– The owner’s daughter at The Coffee Cup in Boulder City, where we stopped for breakfast, dated Shane Patton who was killed during Operation Red Wings. There’s a great tribute to Shane here and this is definitely our new breakfast spot during SHOT Show ^BB

 

–0842– Our Uber driver said he’d get us there so fast and so furious! #asianstatham ^BB
