Eighteen years ago our country experienced the devastating attacks of September 11th in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. As a nation, we were stunned and appalled, but despite the chaos and the mourning, we knew we had to carry on. We faced the world with courage, patriotism and a steadfast resolve to find those responsible for this cowardly act.
Following the attacks, our President came forth with an address to nation and the world, letting it be known that we would find and punish those who sought to harm us. His remarks began with the following words.
“Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward and freedom will be defended.”
As a nation, we made a promise to defend our freedom and never forget the terrible attacks on September 11th. Today, take the time to offer a moment of silence for the victims, their families and for those who gave their lives charging forth to defend our nation and our way of life.
