DIY Secret Morale Patch Storage

By The ITS Crew

In addition to looking cool, hook-backed morale patches can be discreetly used to store items like entry toolsets or other flat shapes. This method is simple and only requires a seam ripper (or knife) and a hook-backed morale patch with a stitched backing. (Unfortunately, glued backers won’t work.)

Begin by using your knife or seam ripper to gently cut the stitching in the area you’d like to place your tools. Don’t make the cut too large or it will be difficult to stitch back up. Now insert your tools and ensure they’re under the seam line of the patch.

Begin stitching from the back of the patch to better hide the end of the thread. A simple stitch works best and it’s always good to color match your thread. Finish with a small, simple knot on the back of the patch.

Your stitch should be almost invisible and with a quick cut, your tools will be ready to deploy.
