He gave me rail for mounting optic. Many vodka shots in rails honor. If Mikhail wanted you to have an optic he'd have given you one

Is it sad that one of my favorite colors is bakelite orange? I got a love for it from EOD school and old AK mags...

Its an ARES SCR lower, in NYS anything with a detachable mag and pistol grip (among many other things) is an evil "assault" rifle. What a lot of guys are doing is building 10 round fixed mag ARs to get around the SAFE Act. I couldn't imagine having a fixed mag semi auto so I went this route.
The stock is a bit low for AR optics so I stumbled on Bradley Cheek Rests, that gets me up high enough to use regular height optics. Manipulating the weapon is a bit different, but I honestly think once I shoot enough it won't be much of a big deal.
Overall for someone who needs/wants to stay legal it was a good option. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer a rifle built for someone living like 40 minutes away from me (in PA instead of NY), but I don't have the option and choose not be wildly non compliant guy (however that is a much different conversation).
