Lessons Learned as a First Responder to Hurricane Harvey

Late Sunday evening, we drove south down an eerily empty highway. While one wouldn’t expect much traffic in north Houston on a Sunday after dark, a major highway with no cars whatsoever tends to give one pause. Further compounding the eeriness was the sheer darkness due to power outages; no streetlights or no town lights, just what we could see illuminated by our headlights.
